We stayed 4 days in mid-October, enjoying all the sights around Confluence, up Hwy 40, along the trails of Ohiopyle, and thereabouts.
This place is such a delight! All the comforts of home, the rustic knotty-pine interior and beautifully landscaped exterior, and nice little decorating touches throughout. And the fire ring! S'mores! It's really convenient to the hiking and historical areas of interest in a very lovely part of the state, and despite the cloudy days, our trip was blessed by many colorfull trees as Autumn held sway in the Laurel Highlands. Debbie and Gary are wonderful hosts and we're so lucky to have found this place they offer.
We three adults weren't in each others' way much...there was plenty of hot water for showers and doing dishes, and the kitchen is quite well stocked.
We never did determine where the lady bugs came from, but they weren't a problem; in fact, they were a cute "natural" touch to our stay the one day and night we encountered them joining us for meals. :-)
Heartily recommend this out-of-the-way get away spot!

We stayed at Coon Hollow Cabin from July 21 to July 26, 2013. We are a family of five, three of which are full-grown teenagers and the cabin did nicely for us. What a LOVELY, absolutely LOVELY little cabin! Debbie (owner) thinks of almost every creature comfort so your stay is pleasant. She even left cucumbers by the front door before our arrival for us :-)

The peace and quiet is MAGNIFICENT!!! The outdoor seating is comfortable (had my coffee outside every morning, highlight of my day) and with the two little mountain run-off areas on the property, sitting outside you get just the right combination of babbling brooks in the background mixed with the songs of birds. Even the one day it rained, we were comfortable inside the air conditioning played games at the dining room table and watched movies laying in bed till 2 am. And watching the fog/mist roll up the mountain is a really neat thing to see! It's like it's alive ;-) and my kids liked picked wildflowers for me from the field across the driveway!

The town is only a 5 minute drive away. Definitely eat at the Lucky Dog Cafe (awesome food!). ..make sure you get the Steel town fries and a burger to split...YUM! There's kayak, rafting and bike rentals right next door to Lucky Dog Cafe...lots of fun kayaking! There's soft serve ice-cream just up the road from there...YUM! Drive up to the damn and go swimming at the beach area (water was a lot warmer than the rivers, almost like bath water, clean & clear). Then visit the antique store in the very picturesque town!!

And just 20 minutes away is Ohiopyle State Park for hiking and fantastic waterfalls and just 5 minutes from there is Fallingwater (order tickets online before going). So PLENTY to do within 30 minute driving radius! Plus Glades Pike Winery is really nice place to go and for a bit of history & antiquing, Rockwood Opera House is nice. (both are 30 minutes drive)

AGAIN, such a LOVELY cabin!!! Great way for a couple to get away or for a family!
